I know how hard it is to commence teaching your little (or big) ones AND keep up with the details of homemaking. The meals, the management, the mayhem...
Every home is different and there are so many different styles of homeschooling that no ones schedule is going to look the same.
I personally know families where both parents are available to trade off on teaching the kids different subjects so homemaking, home business work can go on for one parent while the other teaches.
Another popular option for parents of children a little bit older than say 3 or 4 is to have the children involved with the homekeeping details. During breaks between subjects certain household chores are done by all in a wonderful harmony of keeping the home in harmony.
For those with tiny ones and little ones it can be a season of less homemaking and more parenting. More hands on time with the little ones is far more important than a sparkling kitchen or homemade bread.
Larger families have more mess AND more hands to help clean up the mess. Older children help teach younger children while mom or dad does some other work.
