Get that bathroom ready for spring!

Even though you probably give your bathroom a regular cleaning touching up some extra spots during the Spring can give your bathroom an all new sparkle.

Start with decluttering your bathroom. Get out those items that don’t belong there. Have you been emptying your pockets on the bathroom counter? Clear that out! Wash those dirty towels and clothes. Delcutter the medicine cabinet, doors and countertops. Contain often used bath and beauty products in little baskets to keep the clutter to a dull roar.  Refresh your shower curtain by washing it or replacing for a totally new look.

Next up apply toilet bowl cleaner to your toilet and let it sit until we get to the toilet cleaning part.

Now do something that is rarely done. Wash the walls. If mildew is a problem in your bathroom try washing the walls with a weak 1:5 bleach solution. 1 being the bleach and test on an inconspicuous spot first.

If you have windows in your bathroom clean them and the window sills. Declutter the window sill first if necessary and maybe change the curtains or blinds again for a new look.

Now let’s clean up that tub and shower. It’s hard to find just the right cleaner to get all that soap scum and ick. Ecover makes a decent green limescale remover. I spray that on and let it sit several minutes while I clean out the sinks with the same cleaner. Now since this spring cleaning you’ll want to get at the shower door too. Scrub everything up and rinse off. Then dry for a sparkling finish.

Since the sinks are already clean let’s wipe down the mirrors and then wipe up the counters. Since the first thing you did was declutter they should have significantly less clutter on them.

Next it’s time to clean up the toilet. Do you deep clean your toilet regularly? I mean wipe in and around the icky thing each time you clean? If not then now is the time to start. Spray down your toilet with disinfectant. Start with all the lids up and spray the rim, under the seat, on top of the seat, under the lid, on top of the lid, the back of the toilet, and down around the base. Let it sit a few minutes then starting with the top of the toilet wipe it all up. I usually go through three cleaning cloths for this. When you get to the base wipe good and around it. Use an old toothbrush to clean the hinges and wipe them up. Flush the toilet.

Finally it’s time for the floor. First you’ll want to sweep up all the hair and debris lying around. Then mop using your preferred or recommended floor cleaner.

Since you did all this hard work maybe add some new towels and a bright throw rug to brighten your newly spring cleaned bathroom.
