Mom Get Organized for the New Year
Did you know that January is Get Organized Month?
Gotta love it. I do.
Well we all have areas that we would love to get organized and busy mothers might feel like there is no end to the disorganization. But there is. (Just think of your older female friends who’s children have flown the coop. Notice how neat an organized their homes are? How about how they have all this time for crafts and hobbies. See it does get better .)
Well the secret to much of this being organized stuff is knowing when YOUR time is. The time when mom can refocus, regroup, plan, and organize. For busy moms that time is usually morning.
Morning is that time when you want to stay in bed. Let your kids wake you begging for breakfast. Tell them to help themselves. Get another few minutes of shuteye time. But if you take control of that time it can be the most rewarding of your day.
To help you get started Kat over at Inspired to Action has put together a totally free and incredible ebook to help you start planning your mornings, using them wisely and getting more done. It includes morning devotional ideas, checklists for your day with meal planning and errands and much more. Just click on the cute button below.
God Loveth a Cheerful Giver
In this season of giving this scripture keeps coming to my mind…
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. II Corinthians 9:7
We get all happy and jovial about giving this time of year but what about the rest of the year?
The needs don’t go away when the holidays change.
Long after the songs are sung, the presents are opened, the trees have been recycled and life has turned back to ”normal” everyday put a moment of giving into your schedule. Whether it be daily, weekly, monthly or what have you give cheerfully and of your excess. You know what you have in excess. Whether it be time, talent or goods.
A while ago I picked up a Bible at an Estate sale and inside were these miniature cards that had lovely vintage graphics and a scripture printed on them. In the same manner I’ve made up a printable for you with the above scripture printed on it.
Enjoy~
A Birthday for the King
Just a note in case you were wondering. About 20 years ago our extended family moved from celebrating Christmas to celebrating the Birth of Christ and having a birthday celebration for Jesus outside the sphere of Christmas.
We have omitted the gift giving, the tree and decorations (much to the chagrin of some friends)and instead prepare and share in a dinner worthy of a King. Complete with cake and plenty of joyous song.
I could go on and on but really it’s a decision arrived at with prayer.
It’s as simple as that.

How are you feeling?
Good health.
It’s one of those things you don’t realize how precious it is until it is gone.
No, no, no I am in good health. Just the usual maladies that plague women but I’ve been thinking about how we can take good health for granted.
I’m not in shape to run marathons or anything but when I look around me I’m truly blessed with health.
When our health is bad we seek all avenues to make it better. For some it is the catalyst that calls them to Christ.
Having dismissed Him in all other pursuits good health is demanded and promises uttered if only…please heal me.
Lovingly enough even when the promises are not kept many times good health is granted just because of His extreme love for us.
Good health is not always granted, and we know not the reasons why, but it is His wish for us to be in good health.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Miracles Today
Our little Peanut came up to us the other day and said “I want a miracle!”
You see she has been learning the story of Moses in school and all the miracles God put before him.
She learned about the burning bush. The parting of the Red Sea. Manna etc. So she wanted a miracle too.
Her father and I look at her and exclaimed at the same time, “YOU are a miracle!”
Born at 2+ lbs two months premature. Spending two months in the hospital. Told she would properly not bond with us due to the two months alone in the hospital. Two years waiting for things to clear up so that the adoption could become final. Surgery at 6 months.
Here we are several years later. Healthy as any young child. Smart as a whip. Bonded from day one so it was never and issue . Legally a family and waiting for more.
We said sweetie your whole life is a miracle and our being here together is a miracle. God answered all our prayers concerning you and it gives us shivers to see how it all came together.
We got our miracle!
She looked at us with those extremely sweet brown eyes and we all smiled and hugged.
Thoughts on God’s Creations and Doing What We Are Called To Do
As I clean up around my garden muttering my irritations with the various bugs that come from miles around to eat that which I have labored over I was reminded via this post, that God has a reason for each of His creatures.
Unlike we humans they are doing what God called them to do .
But just what is that? Well this post will remind us why slugs are here. And maybe instead of pouring piles of salt over them we can gently guide them (with copper collars) to other areas of our garden that are in need a bit of tidying.
I am also reminded that as Christians we don’t always do what God calls us to do and as a result we could be missing a big blessing He has for us.
It was very hard for us to sign up as foster parents so soon after our stillbirth. Not for the reasons one might think, that of too many children being thrust upon us at once. No it was just hard to do anything. Anything at all. But we knew what God had called us to do so we didn’t ask questions. We persevered and went through the process, cared for many sweet innocent babies and 6 years later, as I caress the sweet face of God’s great blessing I am reminded what we could have missed had we not done what God called us to do.
Trying to do what God has called me to do as we enter this season of Thankfulness
