It’s been a wild week in our household. My mother had a stroke at the end of last week. She’s sitting here next to me on the couch watching the news on her iPad with no indication that she went through such an ordeal except for the fact that she is a little tired and I have to take her to the doctor for a follow up tomorrow.
Counting those Blessings!
As my husband says it is as if God lined it all up so that she would be taken care of while going through this.
First: Even though the stroke happened while she was alone it was on a day when my aunt, her sister, was home and was noticing some things were not quite right.
Second: I happened to be sitting at my computer when my aunt emailed me that something was not quite right. My mother is a bit nervous so she didn’t want to call me and have my mother over hear.
Third: My sister, brother-in-law, and I happened to be on our way over to my mother’s house that afternoon.
Fourth: My brother-in-law had a vision from the Lord that something was not quite right with my mother and began to pray in earnest 5 minutes before I called him that this was so.
Fifth: My husband happened to be getting off of work and headed home, re-route to my mother’s home. He and my brother-in-law took everything in hand and got my mother transported to the ER in record time. My sister and are still very much my mother’s babies and probably would have accepted when she said she was okay.
Sixth: My mother got excellent care in the hospital. I’m grateful to everyone that cared for her.
Seventh: From the physical therapist to the occupational therapist to the various doctors and PA’s, except for the MRI showing the blood clots, they were baffled about how strong, and in her right mind my mother was.
Eight: I’m thankful for my Sweet Peanut (and I told her so) that she hung in there throughout it all. She and my mother are very close so this hit her very hard. Especially the first night. But she came to the hospital. Did her homeschool in the hospital room and continues to support her mom (me) as we care for grandma.
I really could go on and on but I am so thankful that my mother is okay. I know only too well what can happen as a result of a stroke. We were just in the same stroke unit over a year and a half ago with my sister’s father in law. We are thankful he is still with us and getting stronger every day too.
Thank you for listening.
