Early to Rise Challenge

Today I got up at my target time and promptly went back to sleep. I did go to bed half an hour earlier than I usually do but still half an hour later than I should.

Even with the later start I was able to workout well before my Sweet Peanut awoke. She was a little miffed that she didn’t get to work out with me but seeing as she still thinks dodging through my feet is a good thing to do during interval training I’m glad to go it alone.

Today Andy (in Early to Rise) talks about Going Against the Flow. Well let me tell you getting up early is definitely against my internal clock flow. At least for now.

But really what he talks about is having a different mind set in our days. Not feeling like we have to be running so scattered that we take no time to rest.  I’m definitely all for that.  This getting up early is a different mind set. It’s against what our bodies naturally want to do but it gives us much more control over our day. You can get things done that usually you are scrambling to accomplish later in the day.  For me that has been exercising. I was scrambling to fit it in the evenings with my neighbor. We stuck to it but then issues cropped up in both our families and we had to lay our workouts to the side until things got better. Except they didn’t. Well they did but then a new issue cropped up etc. And I realized back in my work out of the home days I would wake at 4:30 am to exercise. Okay so I just can’t do the 4:30am yet but certainly I can wake up a little earlier to get in a small workout. So far so good and my workout partner has been taking note. She works out of the home and is still trying to find time in the evenings to fit that workout in. Hmm. Maybe she’ll take a page from Andy’s book.

Have a great day!
