When Your Plans Don’t Match God’s?

I remember when I was a working woman in the corporate world. I worked with several college students each year. Mostly girls but we had one guy pop though. One thing that struck me about each of these girls is that they had their whole lives planned out before them.

  • Graduate
  • Marriage
  • Kids
  • etc…

I was amazed at how much planning they had go into each section too. Some had big scrapbooks they were putting together at each stage. It was nice but it never happened as they planned.

Oh those who wanted to get married did. Praise the Lord. To nice young men too. But one in particular married a man who she had, probably two years before the wedding, listed off to me all the reasons why he “wasn’t the one”.   I won’t list all the details she mentioned because they were kind of shallow, as she admits now, but she just “knew” he couldn’t be it.

God had already picked her one and it was just what she needed and whom she loves. Not based on what she thought she needed. They have a nice big family these 10 years later.

As I get older (and older, and older), I’m amazed at how God has things all planned out when we follow Him. He never promised us nothing but rainbows and sunshine but He promised to never leave us or forsake us and to keep our eyes on Him through the troubles.

I get frustrated and discourage easily. I’m also a worrier. So I write this to remind myself as much as you…

As long as you keep your eyes and heart on God he will direct your paths.
