Whew! Some of the dust settles in my Spring Cleaning Efforts

Act like you saw this a week ago. I forgot to hit PUBLISH!

If you’ve seen the little banner on the right side of Homemaking Organized then you know it’s Spring Cleaning time. At least in my home.

Like any women surrounded by junk I get the itch this time of year to see if I can put on a new faces at least in the hidden spaces of cupboards and closets. I admit that exposed surfaces are ‘okay’ but I know I can do better. I’m stuck in gardening mode and in attempting to sew my daughter some dresses since I’m so disgusted at what’s in the store but that’s another story.

This week, if you signed up for the Vintage Spring Cleaning ecourse a week ago, is all about the kitchen. Scrubbing it up and getting it cleaned out. As noted in the printable I’ve been cleaning a section a day. I actually started in on the freezer on Saturday. I’m taking it very easy because upending the house right now is not an option.

I have found that if I tackle one particular Spring Cleaning chore each day then things are much easier to digest and get done. That is how I set up the Vintage Spring Cleaning ecourse to be tackled a week at a time. You may finish said room in that time and you may not but it will be easier to make some headway when you work a little at a time.

Are you Spring Cleaning this year? And if so what room is really calling your name? This year it was my daughter’s room. I’m taking it a step at a time.

The Pea Trellis

I’ve been avoiding blogging because when I went to add my linky over at 5 Minutes for Mom I neglected to link directly to my UBP11 post and instead just linked to the whole blog….oh well.

Okay so here is my UBP11 post and then read on…

Right now I want to talk about Pea Trellises.

You know peas need to climb and there are so many things they can climb it might be hard to make a decision. I browsed around the internet and such and my mom drew up some plans (which she promptly signed as works of art so I didn’t take them from her.) So we used her plans and then I had my helpful nephew hack (that is my word for them) a simple frame to place over my pots.

I’ll take a picture one day. I’m too tired right now from all that fresh air.

I’ve never grown peas before. I’ve always wanted to. I’m growing 10 plants in a pot (is that too many). I have a Garden Patch pot. Wish me well.

You can get some ideas from these two videos.

Ultimate Blog Party 2011

Ultimate Blog Party 2011

It’s Ultimate Blog Party 2011 time! Hello and welcome to my little neck of the country. I’m actually in the burbs…I think. If you’re unsure what this is about 5 Minutes for Mom are hosting their annual Blog party where we all go around and meet and greet. There are also door prizes! Wahoo! One…or two of which are our own Vintage Home Planner CD

  • Just read and comment on the main post here
  • If you have your own blog post about the party and add the UBP button
  • Go and add your link to the Mclinky thing on 5 Minutes for Mom
  • And visit and comment on at least 20 blogs.

Here are a few things about me.

1. I’m a Christian. I got saved at lunch with my sister back in college. I had always gone to church but never knew I needed to make that step.

2. I’ve been married to a very very very sweet man for 14 years. He is very wonderful and puts up with me.

3. We have one Sweet Peanut whom gratefully adopted us. She keeps us hopping.

4. We homeschool said Peanut using Bob Jones which is just chock full of fun. My nephew came out so smart and won all these scholarships to college so I’m following suit.

5. I’ve played the piano and guitar for our small church for 16 years…. or more. I learned as an adult and please don’t add it all up. It just means I’m old.

6.  I’m allergic to soybeans. Ick!

7. I like a good bargain but will pay for a great product.

8.  I love perfume but had to ask people to stop giving it to me for my presents because I have too much. (Can you have too much?)

9. I love soap too but that is one thing you can never have too much of so I have asked that they keep the soap coming.

10. I’m a novice porch gardener. I’ve ventured a little bit into the backyard and a couple of raised beds. This year I planted some onions out actually in the ground just to see what will happen.

11.I’m a former gymnast so to see my body go like this is really depressing. I will try to force myself back into exercise sometime before summer.

12. I started Homemaking Organized to keep me busy while waiting for our first placement as foster parents. The rest is history.

13. I started Vintage Homemaking because I find vintage homemaking tips so absolutely fascinating.

14. I put all the baby stuff from Homemaking Organized into Infant and Baby Needs because I didn’t have enough to do….just kidding.
