Thank you for the awesome comment Home Queen! I'm very happy I could help in any small way although I have a sneaking suspicion I could learn a thing for two from you!

I too wonder how women back then got it all done. Even more so the more I read about life in the past. I like to blame the internet for my lack of productivity to day. We don't have a television so I can't blame that.

God bless you also :)

Thank you Kemi, for such an interesting article. I have found your Ebook guide on Spring Cleaning to be a great help to me. I'm always dropping in here to pick up tips and ideas. With 4 children and a semi- part-time job, full-time workload, part-time hours, I do benefit from so many of your valuable posts. Your tips on Home Life , Cleaning, and Homemaking are usually my first port of call here, as I am always striving to get better organised, though I am enjoying exploring the whole site.
When I've free time, I just love to read about home life and homemaking in the 1920s to 1950s. I find it fascinating to read about life in those times. Find myself asking how the housewife coped back then without the modern appliances that we so depend upon today.
I cook from scratch, and am always looking for ways to put dinner on the table in an hour. I'll be checking this wonderful website out.
Thank you so much for this treasury of homemaking tips.
God bless you,

I ended up with going with Maison Belle. I read several articles praising the scents and since I was going for a new scent for my everyday cleaning I decided to give it a try. Eden Home => http://www.edenhome.com/p-200-maison-belle-natural-cleaner-all-natural-kitchen-cleaner.aspx
is currently have a hefty sale on their Maison Belle cleaners. Maison Belle is not cheap. I picked up the kitchen cleaner and the bath cleaner. The only thing was they did not have the Spring scent which was the one I kept reading about. I picked that up somewhere else for full, expensive, price.

Verdict. I love the kitchen cleaner scent. I find it to be much more fresh and pleasant than the Spring. The Spring is 'okay' but I wouldn't buy it again. The lavendar bathroom is okay too but because I always buy lavendar it is nothing new.
I am cleaning more though. Window sills, doors, walls, kitchen cupboards and counters. My daughter cleaned the the table legs with the Spring.

For more inspiration I watched a few episodes of "How Clean is Your House". That'll get you cleaning! LOL!
